A Sneak Peek into Dining at Laurel Circle

Wine in glasses and bottles

“One cannot think well, love well, sleep well if one has not dined well.”
— Virginia Woolf

To be so bold as to suggest a slight alteration to Virginia Woolf’s quote, at Laurel Circle we believe one cannot live well if one has not dined well. That’s why we work hard every day to ensure we’re exceeding residents’ expectations in every phase of the dining experience — from hospitality to flexible mealtimes, to food and wine pairings, to seasonal menus that use the freshest ingredients, up to the last fork full of delectable dessert created by our beloved pastry chef Vera Lepore. Whether you choose our formal dining room or our Bistro & Club, every detail matters because the most important result of your meal is enjoying it with family and friends.

Our commitment to eating well starts with Laurel Circle Executive Chef Marion Macalalad. At his direction, our culinary team holds monthly Chef and Dietitian Demos, as well as his own Cooking with Chef Marion event, held twice a month. Everyone is invited to see how he prepares some of his signature dishes, and he’ll even give you tips for cooking at home. In addition to all his other duties, he also hosts Dinner with Chef Marion to share new menu items with residents before they’re served in the community’s dining venues.

“This is your home. I’m your chef, and by all means, I will respect your wishes. A lot of resident input goes into our menu making. I hold a chef dinner with 10 residents. We talk about anything. We talk about family and, most importantly, we talk about food.”
— Marion Macalalad, Laurel Circle executive chef

Don’t forget dessert

“A party without cake is just a meeting.”
— Julia Child

Ask any resident and they’ll tell you, dinner isn’t finished until you’ve had a slice of Chef Vera’s black-and-white cake. But if you want a piece, you’d better come early. Besides making everyone’s favorite sweets, Chef Vera also holds Baking with Vera demos twice a month where she gives baking and decorating tips as well as free samples.

“It’s like you’re cooking for your family. I put my heart and soul into everything I make. If I’m not going to serve it to my mother, I’m not going to serve it to somebody else’s mother.”
— Vera Lepore, Laurel Circle pastry chef
